Ministry and Me
April 24, 2024
I was recently asked to take over a ministry at our church as the current leader was moving away. Once I heard the name of it and what it did...I of course accepted. (The fact that a friend at church informed me "I thought of you when I heard this need..." Likely helped seal it.
This weekend has marked anew kickoff for me. We began our Global Impact Celebration with missionaries from around the world, our country and our community. The weekend was filled with joy, love and the sharing of stories.
My ministry is one based on using your hands and adding love. The Heavenly Hearts & Hands ministry uses sewing, crocheting and knitting to create items for our community both near and far. I was able to make connections and find out needs that we can work towards filling.
The most immediate need, and one of the easiest, is the local elementary school we support requested hats. I had a few in the closet that had been knitted...but those 20 would be a very small dent in the 600 desired. Saturday afternoon I did some research and some
Shopping and dashed home for 30 minutes before my next event. In that time I created just shy of 30 hats. That's not the best part...the hats still needed their fringe cut and tied. I gathered scissors (this is where my 5ish pair came in handy!) and off to dinner I went. It didn't take long to pas around stacks of hats with scissors...and in even less time they were done!!
It was pretty wonderful sharing my mission with so many and helping them to realize a few short minutes can make a difference!
It feels pretty awesome to know that doing something I love can have such a big impact on those around me.
I have many upcoming projects through my ministry so be prepared to hear more and see photos often. If you are skilled in any of these areas, and want to contribute - please do! Feel free to e-mail me or message me here for further details.
